Are instant noodles really made from lizards?
A viral video appears to show geckos being dried, ground and turned into noodles. The factory never existed.
CHOP VERDICT
What appears true
The video spread widely across multiple languages and platforms, and versions were presented as genuine food-production footage.
What gives it away
Frame-by-frame checks found malformed or merging animals, unreadable packaging, impossible machinery and inconsistent movement. Fact-checkers also traced the clip to AI-labelled/AI-acknowledged uploads.
What the video cannot prove
Nothing in the clip establishes anything about the ingredients or manufacturing practices of a real noodle brand. A frightening generated process is not a factory inspection.
Why it matters
AI can now fabricate an entire beginning-to-end “production process.” Once the clip is reposted without an AI label, disgust does the distribution for it.
Strongest Chop angle
“The factory looks real” is no longer evidence that the factory exists. Pause, trace the earliest upload, inspect the physics and check the actual product information before forwarding the disgust.
