Cultivated meat is real. Where is it actually showing up?

What is real
The FDA’s current cultured-animal-cell inventory includes cultured chicken cell material, cultured salmon cell material and cultured pork fat cells from several companies. In March 2025 the FDA completed its pre-market consultation for Mission Barns cultured pork-fat cells and said it had no questions at that time about the company’s safety conclusion for the defined production process.
What people often skip
An FDA consultation record establishes that a specific cultured-cell material has been reviewed through that process. FDA explicitly describes this voluntary consultation as not being an approval process. It does not establish that KFC, Popeyes, McDonald’s or another named chain is using it. That is a separate sourcing claim and needs separate evidence.
Our rule
If a chain uses cultivated material and the evidence supports it, we will say so. If all we can establish is that the technology exists and has regulatory records, we stop there.
