Cultivated meat is real. That doesn't prove every viral fast-food claim.

Cell-cultured meat exists and is regulated in the U.S.; that fact alone is not evidence that a named restaurant secretly serves it.

CONTEXT NEEDED

Cell-cultured meat exists and is regulated in the U.S.; that fact alone is not evidence that a named restaurant secretly serves it.

What's true

Cultivated or cell-cultured meat is real technology. FDA has completed pre-market consultations for multiple foods made from cultured animal cells, including chicken cell material. USDA FSIS also has inspection rules for establishments producing cell-cultured meat and poultry products.

What's misleading

The existence of cultivated meat does not prove that a particular restaurant, brand or menu item secretly uses it. A viral video needs evidence about that specific product and supply chain.

How regulation works

For relevant U.S. meat and poultry products, FDA oversees the pre-harvest cell-culture phase and FSIS oversees harvest and post-harvest production. FDA also explains that its consultation is not itself an approval process.

What would prove the claim?

Look for the named product, manufacturer, regulatory records, ingredient or labeling information and credible reporting tied to that exact claim — not footage of an unrelated laboratory.
