KNOW THE LABEL

Artificial Sweeteners on Ingredient Labels

Sweeteners can reduce added sugar, but different products and different people use them for different reasons.

What’s worth knowing

A label may contain sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame potassium or other sweeteners. We identify them as useful context instead of turning the ingredient name into a medical verdict.

The ingredient list is only part of the picture. Serving size, available nutrition data, the rest of the ingredients and your overall eating pattern all provide context.

How Chop the Slop handles it

We separate stronger nutrition signals from ingredients that are mainly debated online. The Slop Score is a comparison tool, not a medical-risk score.
